Under the scope of the Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR) Project, capacity building activities concerning the use of market-based instruments for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions in Turkey, and studies on the suitability and applicability such instruments in our country are conducted. In this context, the activities under the Component namely “Analytical Report 2: Assessment of Market Based Emission Reduction Policy Options for Turkey” started in June 2016.
The First Feedback and Capacity Building Meeting on Market-Based Emission Reduction Instruments was held on October 5, 2016, with the participation of representatives from public institutions and private sector representatives.
Morning session of the meeting offered a comprehensive review of carbon tax, energy efficiency trading, institutional and legal arrangements and their economic implications, in addition to sharing country case studies with the participants.
In the afternoon session, detailed information on scaled-up crediting mechanisms and result- based financing was shared with the participants. Both sessions accommodated working groups sub-sessions where the above-mentioned marked-based instruments were analyzed from a general perspective.
